TEEMS Member Reflections — Seantel Cunningham
November was a wonderful month for my students and me. November is Native American Month, and my site definitely celebrated it. I did not know a lot about the Native Americans and their contributions to America, but I have learned so much.
I have been able to connect the things I am currently teaching my students with what I am learning as Middle School Education major at Georgia State University. For example, my coursework is currently focusing on the importance of multi-cultural education in the classroom. I am seeing first hand that multicultural education has many benefits. My students are gaining a greater appreciation for other cultures. They are learning about differences amongst themselves and others, and they are embracing those differences. I am really proud of the growth that my students are exhibiting.
Each day that I am a part of Seba Academy, I grow just as much as my students. I like that I am in an environment where the teachers are able to grow with the students. Often times, I feel like the roles are reversed whereas I am the student and my students are the teachers. I am looking forward to many more experiences with my students.
